Board of Review-Equalization

WINDEMERE TOWNSHIP

 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, That the Board of Review-Equalization of the Township of Windemere will meet at the Windemere Town Hall at 3:30 p.m. on April 17, 2017. The purpose of this meeting is to determine whether property in the jurisdiction has been properly valued and classified by the assessor, and to determine whether corrections need to be made. 

All persons who consider that the value or classification of their property is incorrect, please contact your assessor’s office to discuss concerns.  If you disagree with the valuation or classification after discussing it with your assessor, you may appear before the local board of appeal and equalization.  The board will review your assessments and may make corrections as needed.

NOTICE: WINDEMERE TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS:

The zoning office will open as of March 31st, 2017. The hours for the season are Friday & Saturday from 8:00a.m to noon or by appointment. You can make appointments by phone (952)201-8391 or by e-mail (windemeretwp@frontiernet.net).

The Windemere Township Planning Commission meets the second Tuesday of the month:
April 11th
June 13th
August 8th
October 10th

7:00p.m at the township hall (91546 Military Rd. a.k.a. County Rd. 50).

The Planning commission meetings are open to the public. This is meeting is an opportunity for property owners to bring up proposed changes to the Windemere Township Zoning Ordinance.

Brush & Leaf Day are the third Saturday of the Month, April thru October 2017. Hours are 10:00a.m to 1:00p.m. This is held at the Township gravel pit next to the airport.

Public Notice February 17, 2017

Call for Gravel Crushing Quotes

The Windemere Town Board will receive quotes for the crushing and stockpiling of 10,000 yards more or less of class 5 at the township pit.  Gravel must be 8 to 10% modified class 5.  Crushing is to be completed by June 30, 2017.   Bids will be opened at 6:45 p.m. on March 2, 2017. The project must be bid by the yard.   Certificate of Workmen’s Compensation Insurance and Liability must accompany the quote.  The board reserves the right to reject any or all quotes.

Portable Storage Containers

Portable Storage Container means a unit that is constructed to make it portable and capable of movement from one site to another (commonly known as recycled shipping containers in industrialized/modular buildings used as tractor -trailers or in railroad shipping).  A portable storage container can be or is used for a storage of personal property of any kind, that is located outside of an enclosed building, that is larger than 425 sq. ft., and that is not a permanent accessory building or shed complying with all building codes and zoning requirement.  

A person must not cause, undertake, permit or allow the placement or existence of a portable storage container outside on a lot located in Zone Districts R-2, R-3 or S-1 unless it complies with the following requirements:

1.     A portable storage container must be placed in an area approved by the zoning administrator per set back requirements.

2.     A portable storage container may not be on any portion of a public street;

3.      A portable storage container may not remain on a parcel longer than 12 months.

4.     An extension, up to one year, may be granted upon the discretion of the zoning administrator.

5.     The total size of all portable storage containers simultaneously on a lot cannot exceed 600 square feet.

6.     These containers are not allowed to be stacked and can not exceed a height of 10ft.

7.     This provision shall become effective and enforceable on the day after publication, except for existing portable storage containers, which have one year to comply with the provision.

Annual Township Election and Meeting

Windemere Township will hold its Annual Township Election on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the Windemere Town Hall.  Polls will be open from 1:00-8:00 p.m. for the purpose of electing one supervisor and one treasurer.  The Annual Meeting will commence at 8:30 p.m. following the election to discuss all township business pertinent to the Annual Township Meeting. 

In case of inclement weather, the meeting will be held on the third Tuesday of March.

Windemere Township will be holding a public hearing on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. on changes being made to the zoning ordinance.  The changes being made are on temporary structures and portable storage containers.  The changes with their definitions and descriptions can be viewed on the Windemere Township website at  windemeretownship.com.

Special Meeting

The Windemere Township Board will hold a special meeting on Thursday, January 26th at 7:00 p.m. at the town hall to discuss zoning issues on Sturgeon Lake.  A closed meeting will follow at 8:00 for the board to further discuss the zoning issues.
