Public Notice for a Special Meeting of the

Windemere Township Board of Adjustment

Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 6:30 PM

The Windemere Township Board of Adjustment will hold a special meeting open to the public on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2024, beginning at 6:30 PM at the YMCA Camp Miller, 89382 East Frontage Road, Sturgeon Lake, Minnesota, for the purpose of hearing two variance requests. These matters were originally scheduled to be heard on March 26th, 2024, but that meeting was cancelled due to weather conditions.

The first variance request is submitted by Richard and Shawn Walczynski, for their property located at XXXXX Old Pine Lane, Sturgeon Lake, Minnesota, PID 33.5419.000. The request is for a variance to construct a primary dwelling structure, approximately 40’ x 60’, a request that would otherwise be permitted but for the fact that the lot is non-conforming as it is 25,318 square feet in size and needs to be at least 26,400 square feet in size to be buildable.

The second variance request is submitted by Daniel and Susan Benzie, for their property located at 94287 Island Lake Road, Sturgeon Lake, Minnesota, PID 33.0045.000. The request is for a variance to subdivide the property in a manner that would create a conforming lot that is 150 feet wide at the building line and over 450 feet deep. The newly created lot would be approximately 72,000 square feet, or roughly 1.8 acres in size. This request for an administrative split would otherwise be granted but for the fact that the newly created lot is not at least 2.5 acres in size. No administrative split can be granted if any new or remainder lots are not at least 2.5 acres in size, even if the size of a conforming lot is smaller than 2.5 acres, which it is in this case.
